PTS Masada AKM Carbine AEG Airsoft Rifle (Dark Earth)
[R04B00][09805 / MPTS605DE]New to airsoft? Here are some safety tips for airsoft guns that we recommend following.
The Magpul PTS Full Metal Masada AKM Airsoft Gun is the long awaited AK variant of the ever-popular PTS Masada that we have come to know and love, and it has exceeded all expectations. The hybrid metal and polymer construction have been done using only the finest materials and building process. The upper receiver is CNC machined from aluminum and the lower is made from Dupont reinforced polymer. The upper features a continuous top rail so the shooter can mount their choice of optics anywhere they want along the rail depending on their mission. The front sight is built into the upper receiver and is spring loaded so it can be deployed in less than a second; the top rail is also home to the rear MBUS flip sight, also spring loaded with an ambidextrous release lever. The controls on the gun like the magazine release, charging handle release and the fire selector are all ambidextrous. The QD sling swivel on the stock can be moved to the left or right side to accommodate any shooting hand. Instead of adding the original fixed stock found on the original PTS Masada, Magpul sends the AKM out of the box with the side-folding and extending multi-adjustable PTS stock that previously was a costly upgrade. Just like the Masada, the AKM also features a quick change barrel system that allows it to be shortened or extended depending on the mission criteria. The barrel can be removed in a matter of seconds with no tools required. Magpul PTS did not just make an externally functional and aesthetically pleasing AEG, but they constructed the internals terrifically to match the awesome exterior.
The Magpul PTS AKM can be disassembled in a matter of minutes, down to the gearbox. The gearbox is a unique version 3, that features a quick change spring function that will allow the user to change their muzzle velocity on the fly with minimal tools. Magpul PTS has engineered some of the best airsoft guns that the world has seen to this day. It's lightweight, performs well, and is built to last. The deconstruction of this gun is simple and requires little tools, a technician's utopia. The muzzle velocity can be changed in a matter of seconds, perfect for players that play in a variety of environments with different FPS limits, and many of the parts on the AKM can even be swapped with those on the original PTS Masada, making it both easy to find parts for, and perfect for the player with both.

When I first received my AKM, I was astonished by the external features that It presented. The folding CQB stock is great, and extends pretty far for those with long arms. The cheek riser moves only a bit, but it fits very well for me. The flip up iron sights are awesome, and the rear sights are removable for those who prefer scopes or sights. I'm very happy with the gun's performance as well, as hitting targets from far away is a breeze for me now. Groupings are also very nice once the iron sights have been adjusted for the operator. Takedown of the gun is very easy and straightforward, and allows for easy access to the gearbox. I would also like to point out that the gearbox is an ARES gearbox and is plastic. I've heard rumors of people having problems with these breaking, but in my opinion, these breakages can be avoided or decreased in how often they occur. A simple sorbo padding install in the gearbox along with a radiusing of the gearbox window will allow this gearbox to function under more stress and last longer. Overall, I'm happy with my purchase and I can't wait to find out if I can buy a metal gearbox for this gun.
Pros:
-Great performance to justify the money spent
-In my opinion, this gun is externally beautiful
-Very easy takedown
-Easy to change barrels to a longer one if desired
-Fully ambidextrous
-Feels very solid in your hands, with a great balance of light weight, and the feeling of a quality gun
Cons:
-Plastic gearbox that has the possibility of breaking (this hasn't happened to me, but as a precaution, I reinforced the front of the gearbox by adding sorbo padding and radiusing the windows of the gearbox.)
-Uses a clockwise thread on the barrel, so if a barrel extension/silencer or a flash hider is desired, you should get an adapter or find an extension or flash hider that works with clockwise threads.
-In all honesty, that's it for me. I'm very very happy with this purchase, and I always find myself looking forward to using this gun. Aesthetically, it's a beautiful gun, and I love the performance from it.
This is very high quality rife with its price being justifiable. THAT BEING SAID: Airsoft GI did a pretty lousy job shipping this out to me (as usual) and i ended up with a damaged box, no matter. Once opened and examined this thing was solid as a rock and SO comfortable! I could fall asleep holding this thing. Everything went well until it came to fire it. As expected from a $500 gun of corse, it didn't work. It was a feeding issue. No shots and triple and double feeding. a nightmare. Took the rifle apart, shortened the bucking, and broke in the mag and the thing shoots better then my polarstar. Simply amazing performance. Despite what shouldn't have to be done, in all this is a very good rifle and I highly recommend it. PS: for this gun, pay for the externals, pray for the internals. there are different defects in each one. 90% will have defects internally.
Pros:
VERY solid
amazing magazine quality
locking charging handle
EASY disassembly
QD spring change
nice wiring
micro-switch
outstanding externals
Cons:
14mm positive threads
motor heats up QUICK (i use a 7.4v lipo)
gun won't shoot out of the box
feeding problems
special gearbox
a bit pricy at the cost of a fusion engine
you don't own it :)
