Well I have been airsofting for a while and I wrote a pretty detailed review about my KWA SR-10. I have listened to all the hype and watched the videos about these barrels. I would like to give my personal thanks to Airsoft GI for making these barrels available as a mass produced alternative for companies like DB Custom and PDI who are ripping customers off for barrels that dont COST anymore to make than 6.03 tightbores.
When these became available I quickly bought 2 of them even though I heard the rumors about the quality not being as good as should be. Today I installed the barrels in my KWA M16 and KWA SR-10. Due to problems with my KWA M16 that was not related to the barrels Im gonna skip to my SR-10. The stock barrel in the SR-10 is obvioulsy very good since its KWA and I did some shooting tests with it before and after replacing the barrel that I will not include in the review.
The ASGI 6.01 barrel greatly increased accuracy and FPS. I was confused at first when I was getting flyers with the new barrel (many more than before) but I believe it was because I was already shooting at the upper end of the FPS limit for .25s and the increase in FPS from the barrel made the BB to unstable. I then switched to .3s and had much better success with performance.
Great barrels, Great buy
Notice: The ONLY ammo I use in my guns are KSC .25s or KSC .3s made by KWA=best performance available
Pros:
-Increased Accuracy/Groupings
-Increased FPS
-PRICE
Cons:
-Increased FPS much more than I was expecting and will now only be able to shoot .3s (personal con)
The barrel I purchased was wildly shooting bbs to the right. Same issue as the guy below me. On careful inspection the window for the bucking was cut incorrectly and had a lip that was pushing the bucking over and causing the spin to be put on the bb incorrectly therefore forcing it right as it came out of the barrel.
The bad thing is, another person on my team order this same barrel and his does the EXACT SAME THING!!! Thats at least 3 barrels that I know of with the same issue! Before people go spouting out that we didn't test it right, we tested it in 3 different guns, all with bucking aligned correctly, and took the same 3 guns and tested with an EDGI barrel aligned in the same way. The ASGI barrel caused the right spin and the EDGI didn't....its the barrel, no question about it.
Contacted ASGI about this and they were less then helpful. Said they don't replace inner barrels. I am contacting them again about it and hopefully will receive a new one that is cut correctly, we'll see.
Pros:
- cheaper than EDGI or other barrels
Cons:
- BAD quality control, at least 3 barrels with bad cuts is just sad
- mutliple barrels with the same issue, and ASGI doesn't seem to want to do anything about it
ok so i tested this in my g&g m14 with modify torque ups an amp high torque motor and an m150 spring also a green g&g hop up and an scs nub. The gun fired 530fps with .2s. Using this set up i recieved less than impressive results, even with .36g bbs. however, upon further research (internet, talking to another sniper at my local field) we discoverd that 6.01 mm barrels have problems holding target at such a high fps (his gun shoots 550fps on a .2 and he uses a db customs 6.01)the moral of the story is, if your going to buy a 6.01mm barrel use it in a gun that shoots below 450fps or your accuracy will suffer go with a 6.03
Pros:
-nice barrel
-increases your fps
-quality metal
-nice finsh (inside and out)
Cons:
hop up window looks like it was shodily cut
-bad gorupings with high fps (all 6.01s)
