I jist bought this gun from airsoft gi and received it yesterday. I plugged in my fully charged 7.4 lip battery and test fired it and everything was fine. The very next morning I decided to do some further firing tests and I shot maybe about 5 or 6 bb's through it when it just stopped working flat out. Literaly maybe shot about a total of 150 to 200 bb's if that thought it and am already having issues. It decided to just stop firing on full and semi auto.
Pros:
Nice feel
Cons:
No key mods for rails
Wobbly inner barrel
Broke internaly in under 24 hours.
Sounds screechy. Had to do some re shimming.
Overall right now I'm very upset with my purchase right now.
This is my second primary airsoft gun which I purchased to be used mostly in CQB, Overall the ergonomics are good as the pistol grip is very comfortable and the keymod rail is a good width. Trigger response is much improved with the mosfet and electronic trigger unit. However, there is a bit of a problem with this new system. When using a 1600 mah 9.6V NiMh battery it only lasts for about 10 minutes due to the voltage cutoff feature of the mosfet which is used to protect LiPo batteries. This becomes further problematic when you try to semi-auto fire as fast as you can. I called G&G tech support directly on the issue and they are aware of it and are supposedly working on a drop in replacement to eliminate the issue. They did not give me a timeline when that will go on the market. Kind of a bummer, because now I am forced to purchase 11.1V LiPo batteries to get a longer run time (which I just got today), but I do get increased response and rate of fire.
The stock I find to be of good quality out of the box, however the battery compartment is a bit confined. The stock perfectly fits a Tenergy 1600 mah 9.6V nunchuck thus preventing the battery from moving around during play Unfortunately due to the mosfet unit you are forced to run a LiPo so be careful what you choose for size. I run a Tenergy 11.1V 1000mah stick which only fits the buffer tube when the stock is fully extended. The side tubes do not like this size LiPo.
I did find rail segments that work with this keymod rail. They are the BCM segments, and I chose the polycarbonate ones due to cost. These work just fine and hold securely to the keymod rail. The stock magazine is good as well and I found it fed the bb's adequately. The magazine is comfortable and easy to take out in a pinch especially with the ambidextrous mag release.
Range is good for this CQB gun. Hop works as a stock G&G should, and allows for average accuracy for an airsoft gun of this intermediate caliber.
Overall I do like this gun and I feel I made a decent purchase. Just wish I knew of the mosfet voltage cutoff issue which limits the batteries I can use effectively. I will be running this in a CQB game soon so the true test is yet to come.
Pros:
Lightweight aluminum keymod rail
Aggressive look (hence the name predator)
Good trigger response
Reliable and proven gearbox
Durable polymer body
Good erganomics
Cons:
Tight battery compartment in stock
Mosfet unit voltage cutoff issue
Need to strictly use 11.1V batteries to get adequate performance.
If you like the looks of this gun, go for it. But just understand that it could use some upgrades out of the box. Specifically the inner barrel, which is made of zinc, should be replaced with a stainless steel barrel. Also try to upgrade the motor, as the stock one, while good, is a bit weak for the mosfet. Other than that, the guns great!
Dont ever change the bucking, G&G greens are fantastic!
