I just picked up the PMG-5 and used at the North vs South 3 game in San Diego on 4/6. It was so much fun to shoot full auto since my other guns are standard rifles that are semi locked when I play.
The firepower of this minigun can suppress enemies very easily when in range. In three kings game, I was able to take out the gold create couriers and force back the other Northern players. This let our Southern team get reinforcements to the area and win game.
A one-point sling on the rear sling point let you carry the gun and do reloads on the field. I was using a large silicon water bottle to hold my spare BBs.
My first con of this gun is the range. I was using .20 BBs since the fire rate was high. Most stardard AEGs out ranged me. I could have used .25 BBs, but I used 13,000 BBs that day. Using .20s made the most sense. You just have to work with your riflemen to get into effective range.
The other issue I have is the clear plastic windows on the internal magazine. The clear pieces can pop out and do if you over fill the internal magazine. I had to use black tape to do emergency repairs at the field to use it for the last game. I saw the video that AirsoftGI put out and tried not to over fill it. I have sent an email to the manufacture asking for a replace clear window piece. The suggestion of gluing the windows is something I am going do.
In closing, this minigun is a great value and fun to shoot.
Pros:
Price - $290 pretax
Light weight and compact design
Fast Fire Rate
High Internal Magazine - 1200 BBs
Fire Rate - 30 RPS
Easy to reload internal magazine.
Cons:
Range - I was using .20 BBs since the fire rate was so high. Standard AEG rifles had a better range.
Clear Plastic Window Piece in the internal magazine falls out if the internal magazine is over filled.
I was so happy when gi added this gun. I saw Isaias' videos on this pmg-5 and I knew I had to have it. Plus the price is not bad i was shocked that it was $300. I picked this up a few days ago and I love it. Its shoots fast and in a beam.
