E&L Airsoft AK74U A104 Carbine AEG Airsoft Rifle (Wood)
[O09B00][17551 / ELAK AEG A104 74U]New to airsoft? Here are some safety tips for airsoft guns that we recommend following.
E&L is new to the airsoft industry but is quickly becoming known for manufacturing some of the highest quality airsoft guns on the market to date. E&L creates their AK AEGs in the same process used to create the airsoft gun's firearm counterparts; however, E&L uses a process which changes the stamped steel AK receivers from a firearm component into a shell capable of accepting a Version 3 Gearbox. E&L is focused on making their line of airsoft guns as aesthetically realistic as possible. E&L Airsoft has teamed up with other companies in the airsoft industry to produce high performance and high quality internals for their AEGs. All E&L AKs use standard Version 3 gearboxes which can accept any Marui-compatible components.
The E&L AK74U is an exact 1:1 replica all the way down to the details, this AK74U is an immaculate signature of E&L's professional work and its quality is unmatched in the airsoft market. Externally, the gun features a full stamped steel body (receiver), top cover, barrel, gas tube, trigger, iron sights, and more. The gun itself has a bluish-steel gunmetal tint while the wood furniture has a clean stained finish just like its real-steel counterpart. Internally the AK74U come equipped with steel high torque gears, high torque motor, and reinforced piston for increased performance and durability.Specifications:

Overall, it is the best ak on market, externally and internally!
Pros:
- Very nice hop up - dual prong bucking; Range is very good
- stock shimming is excellent it seems, runs very quietly; I would say it's almost perfect
- stock motor has neodymium magnets
- Externals are beautiful
- mostly everything is steel
- wood is very nice
- comes with a steel flashider (to replace orange plastic flashider)
- orange flashider comes off easily, not glued on
- alignment seems good so far
- no wobble anywhere
- ball bearing spring guide
- piston is polyacetal or polyamide
- aoe (angle of engagement) is pretty good due to the silent piston head and the small pad on the back of the cylinder head
- the metal of the gearbox is cast a lot better than most stock guns' gearboxes
Cons:
- no mosfet
- unrealistic upper/lower receiver disassembly; barrel is not held in with a pin like vfc but with two grub screws
- wired to tamiya
- 340 fps; not much of an issue though, just replace the spring
- compression is not great; single o ring plastic cylinder head; air nozzle has no oring;
**This a review of the E&L AKS74U Gen 1**
This is the most realistic feeling airsoft AK I have laid my hands on. I think its a 3-way tie with LCT and Real Sword and a cut above VFC. When I got my E&L I compared it to my friend's real AKS74 and the weight and feel is nearly identical. The E&L even smells like a real AK.
I expected to have some wobble from the stock or hand guards but there is just none. With the exception of the wood hand guard (which is a de-milled real AK part) and the slim plastic pistol grip, the AKS&$U is all steel. Without a doubt the E&L will survive being handled rough or accidentally dropped.
Battery space is very small and options are very limited. I was however able to fit a Tenergy 11.1v 1000mah 3 piece Li-Po underneath the dustcover by having to arrange 2 in the front and one in the back. Just make sure the wires are not pinched when slamming the cover shut. With the 3 piece LiPo and the wires packed in tight, the bolt cannot be pulled back far enough to access the hop slider so make the hop adjustments before closing the dustcover. The dustcover was also difficult to close as the release button a millimeter or 2 off. With a tiny bit of Dremel work to widen the dustcover 'window', it now shuts close as it should be..
Mag changes aren't quick and require a bit of practice to 'hook' the front of the magazine. The stock magazine feel cheap but feeds well. A Cyma high cap mag works fine as well as a DBoys mid cap.
The E&L AKS74U chorno'd at 330-340 with .20's. That maybe ok with CQB but I intend to use this as a field gun. Spring was changed out to a Modify 120 and now it shoots at 380-390 and range is impressive despite the short barrel.
Rate of Fire with an 11.1v LiPo was at about 18-19 which is about on par with my other AEG's. I might replace the motor with a G&P 120 so I can have the same rate of fire and use a 2 piece 74.v LiPo instead.
Definitely recommend the E&L AK series.
Pros:
realistic weight
bolt slamming forward sounds great
wood and steel. No pot metal
durable build that will withstand abuse
Cons:
weight. Its not for the average speedsofterboi
small battery space
limited battery choice. Can only fit really small stick type batteries.
no space for a MOSFET
330 FPS is fine with CQB but lacking for outdoor fields

I ordered this when it was apparently in stock- not in any rush but I was wondering if there was an estimated date on restocking.

24mm Threaded Barrels?
I've heard that E&L barrels are threaded to 24mm instead of the usual 14mm. Any truth to this?
