Classic Army Scarab - Airsoft Rifle Review

The Airsoft market has been flooded with M4's and AK's for decades. Both have become the "status quo" in the industry. In our airsoft world, Classic Army chooses the break those rules and be different with their Scarab Series.

The Design

The Classic Army Scarab isn't based on any specific real firearm. Instead this gun has a lot of awesome features that anyone would want on their gun. The first thing that catches my eye is the rail system. With a top monolithic upper rail and a bottom hand guard rail. You are able to mount a plethora of optics and vertical grips. On the left and right hand sides of the gun has Keymod style sections. Where you can mount any keymod direct accessories or a smaller picatinny rail. At first I questioned by they didn't just add picatinny rails on the sides, but When you get the gun in your hands. You see how slim this gun actually is. When shouldering this gun, you feel how easily the hand guard fits into the cup of your hand.

The Controls/Ergonomics

Moving backwards from the rail you will notice the side charging handle. Pulling this back will allow you to access the hop up unit. The ambidextrous bolt catch does work, locking the charging handle to the rear. Releasing the bolt give a satisfying down when it slams forward. The lower receiver is completely ambidextrous. The fire selector and magazine release are easy to use for left handed players. The ergonomic pistol grip uses a quick release latch to access the motor. This will allow you to reinstall one of the motor plugs with ease if it comes undone. Instead of having to sit at a table with a screw drive or hex key. Then we have the stock. This stock honestly reminds me of the M14 EBR Stock. With the L shaped butt plate and check rest. You can adjust this gun to 3 different positions to adjust to your perfect length. This stock is full metal and does add a bit of weight. However it feels solid and really increases the overall look of the gun.

Internal Performance

Internally the Classic Army Scarab Series gearbox is using low resistance wiring and the ECS Programmable Trigger. Allowing you to set semi-auto only, 3 round burst, or 5 round burst modes. The ECS also includes motor protection and low battery detection. Utilizing a quick change spring system. You are able to achieve your desired FPS easier than before. The high speed and torque motor give great trigger response and rate of fire. Inside the rotary style hop up unit is a 6.03mm inner barrel. Providing amazing accuracy and range. The battery is stored inside the front hand guard. The space is very limited. I would recommend a tri pannel 11.1v LiPo battery or routing the wire through one of the keymod slots to run an external battery pack. This gun is wired to deans or "T Connector" for a positive connection and better electricity flow.

Choose Your Play Style

The Classic Army Scarab is available in three different lengths. For three different play styles. The short barreled SAR Carbine is perfect for CQB and indoor environments! If you like playing outdoors, the Scarab ABR is built with a longer barrel for better range and accuracy. The mid-length RAC Carbine is the perfect in between. Balancing range/accuracy and maneuverability.

How Does it Perform?

Out of the box the Scarab Series performs great! Shooting the SAR Carbine with .20g BBs, we were able to reach 200 feet easy! With very little left to right deviation. The trigger response was very responsive with an 11.1v LiPo battery. The rate of fire was higher than average. Roughly around 20 BBs per second, this is plenty for keeping heads down. The programmable ECS trigger is great for any fields with fire restrictions. I normally play at Semi-Auto only fields and being able to lock it into the field requirements.

Is it worth it?

All of the upgraded features in this gun shows in its performance. You are getting every pennies worth for this gun. Great accuracy, range, trigger response, and rate of fire. Classic Army went the extra mile to make sure their guns performed amazingly! Normally the Classic Army Scarab series normally retails between $320-$360. All three models are available with our Factory Deals at the discounted price of $188.66! THIS IS INSANE! You are getting a high end gun for the price of a starter package. What is even more awesome is that unlike the factory direct promos we have. These are ready to ship! Getting it to you faster.
