Good 2-way radios. I've yet to max them out in an airsoft skirmish. I've tested the distance and they go almost half a mile across my city suburb without a direct line of sight. They go much farther in woods and are more than enough for airsoft outdoors. They are small and concealable and the battery holds for an entire day of play or more. Clear vocals and plenty of volume. Water resistant is great for airsoft. The only downside of these vs some Motorolas is that midland 2-pin headset jack accessories are not nearly as common to find.
Pros:
Range/Power
Small size
Included ear pieces saves you money
Water resistant
Cons:
Proprietary Headset Jack makes it somewhat difficult to find aftermarket accessories
I bought these about two months ago and have to say that they are fantastic. I've yet to have any issues with them. I haven't found out how far they will truly reach because there isn't a need to be that far in airsoft. The speaker on just the radio is very crisp and easy to understand, even if the other person whispers. I enjoy the group setting that lets you contact a specific radio or the entire group. the rechargeable batteries that come with it last a solid 6 hours with constant use. Inconsistent use may last up to 24. The headset that come with it are not the best of quality. My team complaints of the way they fit around the ear. It's made of a hard plastic. Also, the PTT is very small and can be hard to find when in play unless you have it strapped down and have the muscle memory of its location. Overall, I am highly satisfied with the quality and the price of the Midland Radios.
Pros:
Great range
Clear voice recognition
A massive amount of privacy and group settings
Long Battery power
Small concealable headset
Cons:
Headset is uncomfortable after prolonged use
Small PTT
I purchased these radios about a year ago and they are wonderful. I have used them for every airsoft skirmish I have participated in, including one that spanned over a large building complex, and I have not had any communication issues. These radios are a great buy for all weather conditions. I have used them in the snow, rain, and heat and they continue to function just fine. These radios also have many different setting and options that can be used during play. The life of the batteries are very good and lasted all day at a Lion Claws event. The headset that comes with it is okay. I have had one stop working (not sure why) and after prolonged use they begin to make the ear sore (but what headset doesn't?), other than that the headset is quality and works well under a face mask. The PTT is somewhat hard to find if it isn't fixed to a certain spot. These radios are easy to use and understand making them a great purchase.
Pros:
- Easy to use
- Array of settings and options
- Good sound quality
- Durable
- Functions in snow, rain, and heat
- Great range
Cons:
- Headsets are the greatest quality
- PTT hard to find if not in fixed position
- Some capabilities require reading the manual to figure out
